EZVIZ DB2 Doorbell: Home Security direct to Your Phone!

As such, home security has gotten a whole helluva lot better, and video doorbells are quickly gaining popularity. Becoming one of the first Smart Home purchases many people are making these days for peace of mind.

Enter the EZVIZ DB2 video door phone. It has an extremely wide 176° viewing angle to see visitors from head to toe in full 2k resolution, with night vision capability up to five meters, and all this through the easy-to-install EZVIZ app on your phone.

This wire-free, wireless doorbell is completely battery-powered and can be set up anywhere in minutes by anyone with no expert knowledge required, simply by using the attached sticker or simple screws. A plug-in wireless doorbell comes with the kit. Choose your favourite bell and you are ready to receive your visitors!

The DB2 Pro can run for up to 115 days (around four months) on a full charge via the included USB cable (just use your own phone charger) which is maximized by its power-saving mode. It’s also fully weatherproof to withstand any extreme weather.

With its clear 2K image and extremely wide viewing angle, the DB2 allows users to see visitors from head to toe instead of the narrow, distorted field of view that a traditional peephole would provide.

Homeowners can also view and record visitor activities down to the finest detail, all through the EZVIZ app.

Black and white night vision also means that no one can easily dodge the camera under the cover of darkness.

Second, the DB2 beeps and helps people open the door effortlessly, which is critical in everyday use.

With the help of the included interior doorbell, users can hear the chosen ringtone, even from a distance. An instant video call will be initiated to the mobile phone, so users can see and talk through the EZVIZ app to let their friends know if it’s a good time to visit or ask the postman to put the packages in a preferred place. The app integrates into a single app ecosystem shared with other EZVIZ devices.

The DB2 not only provides instant access to the front door but also helps provide 24-hour home surveillance. By integrating the human shape algorithm and PIR detection capability, the DB2 is smart to detect human movement instead of running pets, a passing car or leaves blowing in the wind.

Anytime someone is lingering at the door, you will know as soon as it’s happening.

It’s not just motion detection that can help with this constant monitoring. Video storage is made secure and flexible to ensure the doorbell captures and preserves every key moment. The DB2 supports local storage via a microSD card of up to 256 GB (purchased separately), which can be inserted into the inner doorbell for enhanced data protection. EZVIZ also supports encrypted cloud storage with a subscription.

Although easy to install, DB2 is difficult to manipulate. In case the doorbell is forcibly removed, a sharp alarm will be triggered, while a mobile alert reaches the user. Additionally, DB2 prohibits unauthorized use after a theft, thanks to the single account link restriction.

Being a bit old school, I like my accompanying instructions, but in these days of saving paper and the planet, the manual needs to be downloaded via a QR code.

Before you get out your drill and start drilling the front door, here’s a helpful tip. Do the WiFi installation first. Getting connected is easy. Download the EZVIZ app from Apple or Play Store, have your WiFi password ready, scan the QR code on the app doorbell, turn on the doorbell, and in seconds you can see the camera footage on your phone. Now you can take out your drill.

There are three mounting plates included with the kit. Many will probably use flat, but there are tilted alternatives in case you want to see your visitors from different angles. A template is included in the kit to show where the four mounting plate holes should be drilled.

You can also replace your existing wired doorbell with the DB2. Simply follow the downloaded instructions using the included cable connectors, remembering of course to unplug the power supply before doing so.

I found this to be a very sturdy kit with sharp images and a good microphone to hear exactly what the visitor is saying. There are sensitivity settings you may have to adjust as everyone’s front door is different, but it’s a very good product, easy to set up and does exactly what it says on the box.
